How Medicare rebates work

  1. See your GP to discuss a Mental Health Treatment Plan (or a CDM plan if relevant).
  2. Book your session and pay the full fee on the day.
  3. Claim your Medicare rebate afterwards.
  4. Medicare limits apply (Better Access: up to 10 sessions per calendar year).

Medicare Safety Net (optional)

If your annual out-of-pocket health costs are high, the Medicare Safety Net can increase your rebate once you reach your threshold. You can check your registration/status and balance in the Medicare app or MyGov.

Rebates are set by Medicare and may change. I’ll let you know if anything shifts.
